Any guest under the age of 21 found consuming alcohol will immediately be evicted from the festival. Q: Is there re-entry this year? A: Due to new restrictions placed on Long Beach Lesbian and Gay Pride by the ABC (Alcoholic Beverage Control), City of Long Beach and Long Beach Police Department in order for patrons to continue to be able to move freely about at the festival while enjoying an alcoholic beverage, Long Beach Pride is not allowing re-entry. Given our event is private we are still under ABC jurisdiction and of the options offered by the ABC and LBPD the no-entry decision will have the least impact on our event. While this restriction is new, we are confident that it will not impact your Pride experience. We thank you for your understanding and support. We look forward to creating a meaningful and memorable 2016 Pride together.

Annual Art Contest

Carlos Sosa is the winner of 2016 Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride’s Art Contest. Several local Graphic Designers & Artists entered the contest, which was held late last year. The Long Beach Pride membership then made its decision and selected Sosa’s design as the winning entry. His design will receive the public exposure of a lifetime, as it will be utilized in both advertising and merchandising of Pride events and products. This year’s chosen theme is, “Solidarity through Pride”, to which Sosa designed a pair of hands holding a collection of stars. The stars symbolize the diversity of the LGBT Community and are displayed in a colorful rainbow palette that vibrantly showcases the pride of the community. The hands are representative of solidarity needed in order for the community to achieve all of its dreams, hopes, and goals of both today and tomorrow.

Sosa is a graduate of California State University, Northridge and owns GenesisFXE.com, an online Graphic Design business. He has created designs for the City of West Hollywood, UCLA, the County of Los Angeles, as well as several local businesses. He is also known for being an advocate for at-risk & homeless LGBT Youth, as he currently serves as the Executive Director of The C.I.T.Y. x1 Youth Group and was an honored by the City of Los Angeles in 2014’s “LGBT Heritage Month” Celebration.
