Sheila E. to Perform At Long Beach Pride™ Festival’s Main Stage

Acclaimed Percussionist Sheila E. Known for her Work with Prince, Marvin Gaye and Others Will Headline the Festival’s Main Stage on Sunday, May 20!

LONG BEACH, Calif. (March 21, 2018) –  Acclaimed musician Sheila E. is set to perform at 35th Annual Long Beach Pride™ Festival at 8 p.m. on May 20 at the event’s main stage. The festival will take place from May 19 to 20 at Shoreline Marina, Green Park, 450 E. Shoreline Drive, Long Beach CA 90802.

Sheila E. will headline the two-day event which aims to celebrate gay, lesbian, trans and LGBTQ+Q communities in Long Beach and surrounding communities. The noted performer has carved a name for herself as one of the world’s most gifted and iconic percussionists, having collaborated with numerous talents such as George Duke, Marvin Gaye, Gloria Estefan and Prince. Her current album “ICON” was followed by U.S. and European tours, as well as the release of her biography, “The Beat of My Own Drum” from Simon and Schuster.

Each year, more than 80,000 people attend the festival which was founded by longtime community members Bob Crow, Marilyn Barlow and Judith Doyle who established the event in 1983 as a way to empower and support the local gay and LGBTQ+Q community. The event is marking its 35th year with a variety of activities such as the acclaimed Long Beach Pride™ Parade, on May 20, as well as games, raffles, food and drink booths, art exhibits, children’s activities as well as special presentations from its organizers and community leaders.

Thanks to the support of more than 40 volunteers and scores of supporters throughout the community, the event is today the largest two-day event in the Long Beach, next to the Long Beach Grand Prix.
