The 39th Annual Long Beach Pride Parade Sunday July 10, 2022

RULES & REGULATIONS

By filling out and submitting an application, groups and all their participants acknowledge and agree to abide by the following rules & regulations.

  1. All entries should have a positive theme, which respects diversity, and incorporates this year’s theme: “Many Voices, One Spirit”.
  2. The parade will start promptly at 10:30 am. All entries must be checked in by 10:00 am to participate.
  3. Long Beach Pride, the City of Long Beach, and Pageantry Parades are not responsible for any false statements or actions made by any applicant and/or participant in this event.
  4. Forward motion and proper spacing must be maintained at all times while on the parade route. —- Stopping at any time to perform is prohibited —-
  5. At no time is ANYTHING allowed to be thrown, either in the formation area or while on the parade route.City regulations strictly prohibit handing out leaflets, pamphlets, or flyers during the parade. Units caught breaking these rules are subject to a citation from the Long Beach Police Department, along with being removed from the parade. If removed, entry fees will not be returned.
  6. Applications, including script, entry fees, and any required sketches, proof of a valid driver's license, or insurance must be submitted prior to the deadline of MAY 30, 2022 to be considered.
  7. Acceptance into the parade is at the discretion of the parade committee. All decisions are final.
  8. No one under the age of eight (8) will be allowed to march in the parade without prior approval.
  9. paperwork will be sent out to approved units by June 15, 2022.
  10. All equestrians, or other groups with animals, are required to provide a cleaning crew to pick up after their group, both while on the parade route and in the formation / disbanding areas.
  11. All entries are encouraged to carry a banner to identify their unit.
  12. The Parade Committee accepts entries based upon the information submitted with the application. Once accepted, changes to any unit are prohibited without written approval from the parade committee.
  13. All decorations must be Fire Proof / Fire Retardant.
  14. City of Long Beach noise abatement laws forbid any unit to test equipment or play music prior to 8:30 am.
  15. Insurance is required for all floats, vehicles, and equestrian units.
  16. All entries are required to be less than 25 feet high, 25 feet wide, and 70 feet in length.
  17. All floats are required to have a minimum of one (1) 2A10BC or higher rated Fire extinguishers and be available for inspection by 9:00 am on the day of the parade.
  18. Any motorized unit which becomes disabled while in the formation area or on the parade route will be towed at the owner’s expense.
  19. Units who wish to be grouped / march together must indicate this request on each application submitted. The Parade Committee will do its best to accommodate all requests, but it is not guaranteed.
  20. Any individual or group that has not submitted an application, been approved for participation by the parade committee, and paid any required fees are subject to immediate removal from the parade area.
  21. Once a unit has been accepted into the parade, NO CHANGES to the makeup of the unit are allowed and NO REFUNDS will be given for any reason.
  22. Any dogs in the parade must be leashed, and be up on all shots. It is also recommended that owners either have a mobile carrier or shoes/pads for their dog's feet, as the heat of the asphalt may hurt their paws. Owners are also required to pick up after their dog immediately ( if needed ) whether in the formation area, disbanding area, or on the parade route. It is also recommended that owners pack water for their dog to drink, so as not to cause dehydration.
  23. All entries are required to abide by the laws of the City of Long Beach and the State of California. Violators are subject to citation.

  24. City of Long Beach ordinances, including those regarding nudity will be strictly enforced by the Long Beach Police Department.

  25. The Long Beach Pride Parade is a celebration for the public, and is intended as an educational and entertainment event. The Long Beach Pride reserves all rights as producers. Any reproduction, broadcast, or commercial use of any portion of this event, in whole or in part, without the express written consent of Long Beach Pride is prohibited. Long Beach Pride may, at its discretion film, photocopy, or tape any and all portions of this event for commercial use.

  26. Applicant affirms that this parade entry is not sponsored by, nor will it display or distribute logos, trademarks, identifiable slogans, products, advertising, or promotional items from any 3rd Party organization or business. The applicant also acknowledges that no one, other than the named person, business, or organization listed on the parade application may sponsor or participate with your entry without the express written consent of Long Beach Pride.

  27. Police / Fire Lanes must be kept open at all times.

  28. Any violation of these rules may lead to removal from the parade.

  29. Long Beach Pride and / or Pageantry Parades reserves the right to remove a person(s) from any vehicle that is deemed to be overcrowded or unsafe.

  30. The applicant(s) signing this application acknowledge that they are responsible for any and all acts and / or omissions on their part, or the part of any member of their unit, which may result in injury or damage to themselves or third parties. As such, the applicant(s) agree to hold neither Long Beach Pride and Pageantry Parades, including any of their staff, employees, volunteers, etc … free and harmless from any and all claims.

  31. Limitation of Liability, Indemnity, and Release

    a. Neither Long Beach Pride, Pageantry Parades, or the City of Long Beach, nor any of its officers, agents, volunteers, employees, or independent contractors shall be held liable for, and are expressly released from, any liability caused by damage, loss, harm or injury to either individual or property for any reason or cause, by a participant in this event.

    b. Participation in the parade is at the sole risk of the participant, and the applicant acknowledges such, and indemnifies and holds harmless Long Beach Pride, Pageantry Parades, and any of their officers, agents, volunteers, employees, staff, or independent contractors of any liability, for any cause.

    c. Parade entries hereby agree that neither Long Beach Pride, or Pageantry Parades shall be liable for any consequential, indirect, special or punitive damages of any kind, whether foreseeable, or unforeseeable, or whether based upon lost goodwill, lost profits, loss of entrance in the parade, whether arising out of breach of any expressed or implied warranty, breach of contract, negligence misrepresentation, strict liability, or otherwise, under any circumstances.

    d. All displays, products, equipment, furniture and / or furnishings that are placed on either the Parade Route, Formation Area, or Disbanding Area, are at the sole risk of the participant. Long Beach Pride and Pageantry Parades will not assume any responsibility for the loss or damage of a participant’s property.

    e. Parade entries shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless, Long Beach Pride, Pageantry Parades, and any of its officers, agents, volunteers, employees, staff, independent contractors, or other representatives (i.) from and against all claims arising from any acts, failures to act, or negligence of parade applicant or any of its officers, agents, volunteers, employees, or other representatives, (ii.) from and against any and all claims arising from the breach of, or default in the performance of any obligation on the exhibitor’s part to be performed under, these current conditions, and (iii.) from and against all cost, attorney’s fees, expenses, and liabilities incurred. In the defense of any such claim or action.

(TO BE SIGNED BY ALL PARADE PARTICIPANTS AND RETUNED WITH YOUR PARADE APPLICATION)

CITY OF LONG BEACH (“CITY”) WAIVER AND RELEASE
FOR GOOD AND VALUABLE CONSIDERATION, including permission for the undersigned to participate in the
LONG BEACH LESBIAN & GAY PRIDE PARADE and related activities, I, the undersigned for myself, my
successors, heirs, assigns, executors, and administrators;
1. Agree that prior to participating I will inspect the facilities and equipment to be used, and if I believe any of
them are unsafe, I will immediately advise the supervisory person at the facility.
2. Acknowledge that I fully understand that I will be engaging in activities that involve risk of serious injury or
death, including economic losses, which might result not only from my own actions, inactions, or negligence,
but also from the actions, inactions, or negligence of others, the condition of the facilities or equipment, rules
of play for this type of event or activity.
3. Assume any and all risks of personal injuries to myself, including medical or hospital bills, permanent or
partial disability, or death and damages to my property, real or personal, caused by or arising from my
participation in this event or activity.
4. Covenant not to sue the City, the Board of Harbor Commissioners and their officials, employees and agents
and Long Beach Lesbian and Gay Pride, Inc., for any and all liability, loss, damage, claim demand, cost,
expense, and cause of action arising from or attributable to my participation in this event or activity.
5. Acknowledge that the City and Permittee/Sponsor are not joint sponsors, joint ventures, partners, or
otherwise jointly engaged in the above-named event or activity.
THIS DOCUMENT RELIEVES THE CITY AND OTHERS FROM LIABILITY FROM PERSONAL INJURY WRONGFUL
DEATH, AND PROPERTY DAMAGE CAUSED BY NEGLIGENCE. I HAVE READ THIS WAIVER AND RELEASE,
UNDERSTANDING THAT I HAVE GIVEN UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS BY SIGNING IT, AND SIGN VOLUNTARILY.
