The Acclaimed Artists To Headline at the Organization’s Biggest Event Arriving on Aug. 5-6!

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (June 13, 2023) – Grammy-winning music artist Mya and acclaimed actress/singer Laura León have joined the music lineup at ’s 40th Annual Celebration on Aug. 5-6.

“We are very excited to announce Mya and Laura León will be sharing their talents on the Long Beach stage this summer,” said Elsa Martinez, Long Beach Pride co-president. “A well-respected singer/songwriter/producer/dancer and actor, Mya is an exceptional musical figure who will bring her unique vision and talents to our 40th annual celebration. Likewise, we are pleased to have the iconic and award-winning Laura León bring her inimitable energy and talent to the Long Beach Pride stage.”

Mya will perform at the event’s Urban Stage on Aug. 5 and 6 while León will be at the Fiesta Caliente stage on Aug.6. The two performers will join popular Latino artists La Diva Lucia Mendez, Edith Marquez, Ambar, Mar Solis, Esteman and Jessica Esoterica at the iconic organization’s much-awaited celebration. The Grammy Award winner and self-described “Ghetto Supastar,” Mya is synonymous with entertainment and pop and R&B music since her arrival in 1998 with her acclaimed debut self-titled album titled “Mya.” With 25 years’ experience in the music and entertainment industry, the Washington D.C. native has sold millions of records including hit singles like “My Love Is Like Wo,” “Fallen,” and LGBTQ+ fan favorite “Whatever Bitch,” as well as the promotional single, “Real Compared to What” with Common, which was used as the Coca-Cola theme song.

In 2001, Mya collaborated with Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Pink, and Missy Elliott on a cover of LaBelle’s “Lady Marmalade,” which was featured in Baz Luhrmann’s “Moulin Rouge.” Mya’s other musical collaborators include Baby Face, David Foster, Diane Warren, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Wyclef Jean, Beenie Man, Sean Paul and many others.

“Mya and Laura León are extremely talented performers and a personal favorites of many of us in Long Beach Pride,” said Denise Newman, Long Beach Pride co-president. “They are the first of many amazing artists that we will be announcing in the weeks ahead that will make this celebration our biggest event to date. Laura León is known for her many hit singles, 20 music albums and her sold out concerts as well as for her acting in nine telenovelas in her native Mexico, eight films along with many awards for her music and acting. León also scored three hit singles with the themes to three of her telenovelas: “Dos Mujeres, Un Camino (2 Women, 1 Path),” “El Premio Mayor (the Big Prize),” and “Mujeres Engañadas (Betrayed Women).”

Her work in the telenovela “Amor en Silencio (Love in Silence),” led her to win various awards such as El Heraldo, two Calendarios Azteca de Oro, two Golden Awards, two Telenovela Awards, Los Nuestro Award and other awards such as the female revelation of the year and numerous recognitions from Mexico, the U.S. and other international awards.

Other artists scheduled to join the Pride stage will be popular DJs such as DJ Ivan, DJ Joe Pacheco, DJ Jerac, DJ Kidd Madonny, DJ Kimberly S, DJ Dawna Montell, DJ Ana Paula and DJ Liza Rodriguez.

Long Beach Pride will begin with Teen Pride taking place Aug. 4, followed by the Pride Festival on Aug. 5-6, followed by the Pride Parade on Aug. 6, all at Marina Green in Long Beach. As in years past, the celebration will feature live music from top artists on the music and dance stages while showcasing local artists and special community programming.
