The Signal Tribune’s May 2025 preview walked readers through our festival zones, performers, Health Hub, Teen Pride and the grand marshals for the 42nd parade.

Ahead of our 42nd celebration, the Signal Tribune published a detailed preview on May 14, 2025. The paper framed Long Beach Pride as the start of something bigger.

Long Beach will be louder and prouder this weekend during the 42nd annual Long Beach Pride, kicking off the season of major pride celebrations happening nationwide.

Signal Tribune

The story laid out the plan: a community festival on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. at Marina Green Park, and the parade on Sunday at 10 a.m. along Ocean Boulevard and Alamitos Avenue, all under the theme “The Power of Community.”

Who Took the Stage

The Signal Tribune named HYM the Rapper, pop vocalist Tori Kay, Latinx group Mamboson, throwback band Radio Royalty and alternative musician Tiancho, with DJ BSelecta, DJ Icy Ice, DJ 360 and MegaWoof on the turntables. Special activations included the Galactivation Station, an EDM dome hosted by “America’s Got Talent” contestants The Galactaviators, plus a Ballroom Dance-Off, a George Michael Reborn Tribute and a drag show from Jewels Productions.

Room for Everyone

What we were proudest to see in print was the list of spaces built for specific parts of our community. Teen Pride offered a safe, affirming place for young people 17 and under. TransVisibility showcased the transgender community through art. Queer Country brought line dancing with The Wranglers. A Health Hub offered free testing and wellness information with APAIT, Bienestar, APLA and the Long Beach Health Department, and Recovery and Support Spaces hosted meetings for guests in recovery.

Leading the Parade

The paper also shared the grand marshals: Councilmember Cindy Allen; Carolyn Caldwell of St. Mary Medical Center; actress and disability rights activist Jennifer Kumiyama; the founding members of It’s a Drag to Give, Debra Kahookele, Josie Quiros, Rocio Rached and Isa Rached, whom we lost on Jan. 2, 2025; Pastor Tony Carreras of Christ Chapel Long Beach; student advocate Alex Malleis-Sternberg; and media anchors Annabelle Sedano of NBC4 and Enrique Chiabra of Telemundo 52.

The Long Beach Pride Parade is free to attend and will begin from Ocean Boulevard and Lindero Avenue.

We hold Isa Rached in our hearts, and we are grateful to the Signal Tribune for telling the whole story of the weekend.
