Bravo Celebrates Lisa Vanderpump at Long Beach Pride 2017

The day after the 2017 Long Beach Pride Parade, Bravo’s The Daily Dish ran a story on one of our grand marshals: Lisa Vanderpump. The longtime LGBTQ+ ally served as Celebrity Grand Marshal of the 34th parade on Sunday, May 21, 2017, and Bravo made clear she dressed for the occasion.

Lisa served as one of the grand marshals at the 2017 Long Beach Gay & Lesbian Pride Parade on Sunday. She did so in one of the most fabulous outfits we’ve ever seen, too.

Bravo reported that Vanderpump Rules cast members Ariana Madix, Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz came out to support her and the community. Afterward, Bravo noted, she shared online that it had been an exhausting but wonderful day, and called for LGBTQ rights to be a priority.

The story placed her alongside the other grand marshals that year, including California State Senator Ricardo Lara, Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn, and other allies and activists. It also mentioned the festival headliners who filled Marina Green Park with music that weekend, among them Chaka Khan, Jody Watley and Monica.

The festival also included a tribute to the 49 people who lost their lives during last June’s attack at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub.

That tribute mattered deeply to us. Less than a year after Pulse, our 2017 theme was Viva La Vida, Here’s to Life, and the weekend held both remembrance and celebration.

Celebrity grand marshals have long been part of the Long Beach Pride Parade, and the best of them come because they care. Bravo described Vanderpump’s support for the LGBTQ+ community as a big deal for her, and the crowds along the route that Sunday gave that support right back.

Coverage like this brings Long Beach Pride to people who might never have heard of it, including fans far from the coast who follow the stars who ride with us. We are grateful to Lisa Vanderpump for spending her Sunday on Ocean Boulevard, and to Bravo for sharing the day with its readers.
