Our volunteer board reaffirms a festival with purpose: local talent, year-round outreach and unity for the 42nd Long Beach Pride, May 17 and 18, 2025.

On May 1, 2025, as Long Beach Pride prepared for its 42nd annual celebration, our 100% volunteer board reaffirmed the organization’s mission as a nonprofit rooted in advocacy, visibility and unity. In 2025 that means spotlighting community voices, supporting outreach all year and standing as a symbol of resilience for the LGBTQ+ community.

Interim President Elsa Martinez knows this organization well. She began volunteering with Long Beach Pride in 2015, and as president she guided it through the 2021 online celebration and the festival’s return in 2022.

Long Beach Pride has always been more than just a festival, it’s a movement. This year, more than ever, we’re celebrating the strength, creativity, and unity of our local community.

Elsa Martinez, Interim President, Long Beach Pride

A Movement, Not Just a Moment

Since its founding in 1983, Long Beach Pride has served as a vital platform for LGBTQ+ visibility and rights. The annual festival is both a celebration and a fundraiser that supports community outreach and essential services throughout the year.

“As a nonprofit organization, every aspect of the Pride Festival, from ticket sales to vendor partnerships, directly funds our work in the community,” Martinez noted. “This is a festival with purpose.”

Community at the Center

The 2025 festival is a return to the roots of Pride, with an emphasis on grassroots engagement and community participation. Local performers, artists and activists will take center stage, reflecting the diverse spirit of Long Beach.

Even the festival’s look comes from home. Our 2025 theme is “The Power of Community,” and the official logo, a circle of people holding hands in Pride colors, was designed by Long Beach artist Sabrina Ortiz.

“What makes this year truly special is how our community has stepped up,” Martinez added. “We are proud to showcase local talent and the voices that have long powered this movement.”

The Spirit of Pride Holds Steady

Whatever changes around us, Long Beach Pride remains steadfast in its commitment to justice, inclusion and the celebration of queer joy. We invite all community members and allies to stand together, take part and carry the legacy of Pride forward.

“Our strength has always been our solidarity,” said Martinez. “This year’s festival is a reminder of what we can achieve when we lift each other up.”
