Flame Monroe, a Long Beach drag entertainer and comedy club favorite, takes the Main Stage on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Marina Green Park.
Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride is thrilled to announce that Flame Monroe, a multifaceted entertainer who calls Long Beach home, will be one of the featured artists on the Main Stage on Saturday, May 20, 2017. The 34th Annual Long Beach Pride Festival takes place May 20 to 21, 2017, at Marina Green Park.
Flame lives right here in our city. She is a loving and caring father by day and one of the fiercest drag queens by night.
Audiences across the country know her from comedy clubs throughout the United States. She is just as well known in nightclubs, where her lip-sync performances have a reputation for turning up the heat.
Ms. Monroe will entertain the crowd with her provocative humor, sultry dance and lip-synch performance.
Denise Newman, President of Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Inc.
A Big Saturday at Marina Green
Flame shares the Saturday Main Stage with headliner Chaka Khan, the 10-time GRAMMY Award winner. On Sunday, May 21, Jody Watley and SRL close out the weekend. For the first time in our history, every stage at the 2017 festival has its own headliners, from the Urban Soul and Country stages to the Fiesta Caliente Latin stage and the Dance tent.
The 2017 celebration carries the theme “Viva La Vida.” Lisa Vanderpump joins the parade on Sunday as Celebrity Grand Marshal, and California State Senator Ricardo Lara leads it as Grand Parade Marshal.
Why It Matters
The Long Beach Pride Festival and Parade has become the second-largest revenue-generating event for the City of Long Beach and now attracts more than 80,000 participants over two days. Over more than three decades, Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride has given more than one million dollars back to the community through grants, scholarships and support for events and organizations across the region.
We are an inclusive organization, and we work to create an environment free from prejudice and bias. The full 2017 lineup, tickets and an interactive festival map were shared on longbeachpride.com in the weeks before the festival.
When Flame takes the stage on Saturday, she will be performing for her neighbors. Come out and cheer for one of our own.
