LGBTQ+ Sponsorship: A Win-Win for Community and Companies
The Long Beach Pride Team2 min read
Sponsoring Long Beach Pride connects businesses with a diverse audience while helping fund a safe, joyful space and year-round programs for our community.
Every Long Beach Pride weekend is made possible in part by our sponsors. Those partnerships raise the visibility of the LGBTQ+ community, and they give companies a real way to build loyalty and recognition with the people they serve. With the 2024 festival set for May 18 and 19, here is why sponsorship works for both sides.
What Sponsors Gain
Sponsoring an LGBTQ+ event aligns a company with diversity, equality and inclusion, and it does so in public. Consumers increasingly favor businesses that stand up for those values, and a presence at Long Beach Pride shows that commitment where people can see it.
The audience is broad and diverse. Sponsorship brings a brand to new customers and keeps it in front of them before and during the event, through media coverage and the promotional materials we circulate.
Pride is also a place to meet people. Businesses connect with like-minded organizations over the weekend, and some of those conversations grow into partnerships and collaborations that last well beyond it.
Because many organizations that host LGBTQ+ events are registered nonprofits, sponsors may also be eligible for tax benefits. Long Beach Pride is one of them: a 501(c)(3) nonprofit run by an all-volunteer organization. And the involvement is a clear expression of corporate social responsibility, one that stakeholders and the public notice.
What the Community Gains
Sponsor support is a big part of how these events keep happening. It helps us offer a safe, celebratory space where LGBTQ+ people can be who they are, openly and proudly. Each year that space includes our festival, our parade and Teen Pride.
The impact continues after the stages come down. Sponsorships help fund educational programs and outreach that serve the LGBTQ+ community all year and help the wider public understand LGBTQ+ issues. That work sits at the heart of our mission: “To produce and support activities that educate, encourage and celebrate PRIDE, inclusion, and respect for humanity.”
Giving back has always been part of the picture. By 2017, Long Beach Pride had given more than one million dollars back to the Long Beach community through grants and scholarships.
