Our Celebrity Parade Grand Marshal, Lisa Vanderpump, will speak from the main stage at Marina Green Park after the parade on Sunday, May 21, 2017.
Lisa Vanderpump is coming to Long Beach for more than the parade. Our Celebrity Parade Grand Marshal for the 34th Annual Long Beach Lesbian and Gay Pride Parade will also speak to the festival crowd from the main stage at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2017, right after the parade, at Marina Green Park on Shoreline Drive.
We announced Vanderpump as Celebrity Grand Marshal in April. She joins a 2017 celebration themed “Viva La Vida,” with California State Senator Ricardo Lara as Grand Parade Marshal and a main stage headlined by Chaka Khan on Saturday and Jody Watley on Sunday.
Restaurateur, Producer, Television Favorite
Vanderpump grew up in London. A businesswoman, TV personality, author and philanthropist, she has worked side by side with her husband, Ken Todd, in restaurants and nightclubs for more than 30 years. Their three restaurants in Los Angeles are only part of what they have built together.
Most people know her from Bravo. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is in its seventh season, and Vanderpump Rules, which she executive produces, is in its fifth. That show centers on her West Hollywood restaurant SUR, alongside her Beverly Hills favorite Villa Blanca and her newest culinary venture, PUMP. She has also created a tabletop collection, Vanderpump Beverly Hills, the Vanderpump Estate Jewelry Collection and a pet accessories line at VanderpumpPets.com. Her mix of social activism, glamour and down-to-earth style has won over millions of viewers.
A Longtime Ally
She and Ken have stood with the LGBTQ+ community for many years. She is a spokesperson for GLAAD and has worked closely with the Desert AIDS Project, The Trevor Project and the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center to help LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness. In 2015, Equality California, an LGBTQ+ rights organization, gave her its Ally Leadership Award.
She shared these words with our community:
Thank you Long Beach Pride! It is an honor to be recognized by a community that you love so dearly that they are embedded in your heart.
Lisa Vanderpump
Together we have passed several milestones but we are not finished yet and I plan on being here every step of the way.
Lisa Vanderpump
Close to Her Heart
Animal welfare matters deeply to her. In October 2015 she organized a peaceful march from MacArthur Park to the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles calling for an end to the Yulin Dog Meat Festival, and launched StopYulinForever.org. The march started a movement to end the abuse of dogs around the world. She has since spoken to Congress on the issue and is producing a documentary about it.
Her Vanderpump Dog Foundation works to end animal abuse at home and internationally, and it opens its first rescue and adoption center in May 2017.
Plan Your Sunday
The festival runs Saturday and Sunday, May 20 and 21, 2017, at Marina Green Park. On Sunday the parade steps off at 10:30 a.m. on Ocean Boulevard at Lindero Avenue. Cheer her on along the route, then find a spot near the main stage by 3:45 p.m. to hear from her in person.
