Our 2024 theme, “The Rhythm of the Rainbow,” celebrates music as a universal language of hope and unity for the May 18 and 19 festival and parade.

Long Beach Pride is delighted to unveil “The Rhythm of the Rainbow” as the theme for our 2024 celebration. The festival runs May 18 and 19, 2024, and the parade fills Ocean Boulevard on Sunday, May 19.

This year, the rainbow comes with a soundtrack. The theme is about hope and unity through music. Music crosses lines of politics, poverty and injustice. It is a universal language with no race or sex, only purpose. As people who make music and love it, we find in it the hope to keep moving forward.

Despite progress, new barriers emerge. In 2024, we arm ourselves with our greatest weapon and ally: Music. We pay homage to the beats that have strengthened our hearts and souls. Our music is a powerful tool against the challenges we face, and with it, we will prevail.

Tonya Martin, President of Long Beach Pride

Music Has Always Been Part of Our Pride

This theme is personal for us. Music has carried Long Beach Pride for decades. Sylvester headlined our main stage in 1987. Little Richard and RuPaul took the stage in 2000, and Patti LaBelle headlined our first Friday night concert in 2004. Jennifer Hudson drew such a crowd in 2007 that grandstands from the Long Beach Grand Prix were brought in. Queen Latifah, Chaka Khan, Salt N Pepa and Fantasia have all played for our community, too.

Since 1998, the Fiesta Caliente Stage has given Latin music its own home at the festival, with artists like Ivy Queen, Kat DeLuna and Lucia Mendez. Our country fans have line danced their way through whole weekends. Every one of those sets was a moment when thousands of people felt free to be themselves, together, out loud.

“The Rhythm of the Rainbow” honors all of it: the songs that got us through hard years, the anthems we sang in the street and the new voices still finding their sound.
