The Long Beach Pride Team3 min read
Grammy winner Mya returns to Long Beach Pride and Mexican icon Laura León makes her debut at our 40th annual celebration, Aug. 5 and 6, 2023.
Our 40th annual celebration just got bigger. Grammy-winning artist Mya and acclaimed actress and singer Laura León are joining the music lineup for Long Beach Pride at Marina Green, Aug. 5 and 6, 2023. Mya plays the Urban Stage both days, and León takes the Fiesta Caliente Stage on Aug. 6.
For longtime Pride fans, Mya’s name will ring a bell: she was on our Main Stage in 2006. Having her back for our 40th feels right.
We are very excited to announce Mya and Laura León will be sharing their talents on the Long Beach stage this summer. A well-respected singer/songwriter/producer/dancer and actor, Mya is an exceptional musical figure who will bring her unique vision and talents to our 40th annual celebration. Likewise, we are pleased to have the iconic and award-winning Laura León bring her inimitable energy and talent to the Long Beach Pride stage.

They join a lineup of popular Latino artists that already includes La Diva Lucia Mendez, Edith Marquez, Ambar, Mar Solis, Esteman and Jessica Esoterica. Two of those names are old friends of the Fiesta Caliente Stage: Edith Marquez performed there in 2010, and Lucia Mendez in 2012. DJ Ivan, DJ Joe Pacheco, DJ Jerac, DJ Kidd Madonny, DJ Kimberly S, DJ Dawna Montell, DJ Ana Paula and DJ Liza Rodriguez will also spin on the Pride stages.
Mya
The Grammy winner and self-described “Ghetto Supastar” arrived in 1998 with her self-titled debut album, “Mya,” and has been part of pop and R&B ever since. In 25 years in music and entertainment, the Washington, D.C., native has sold millions of records, with hit singles like “My Love Is Like…Wo” and “Fallen,” along with songs that became favorites with her LGBTQ+ fans. Her promotional single with Common, “Real Compared to What,” was used as the Coca-Cola theme song.
In 2001 she joined Christina Aguilera, Lil’ Kim, Pink and Missy Elliott on a cover of LaBelle’s “Lady Marmalade” for Baz Luhrmann’s “Moulin Rouge.” She has also worked with Babyface, David Foster, Diane Warren, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Wyclef Jean, Beenie Man and Sean Paul, among many others.
Laura León
Laura León is known for her many hit singles, 20 albums and sold-out concerts, and for acting in nine telenovelas in her native Mexico and eight films. Three of her hit singles were the theme songs to her telenovelas: “Dos Mujeres, Un Camino (2 Women, 1 Path),” “El Premio Mayor (The Big Prize)” and “Mujeres Engañadas (Betrayed Women).”
Her role in the telenovela “Amor en Silencio (Love in Silence)” earned her El Heraldo, two Calendarios Azteca de Oro, two Golden Awards, two Telenovela Awards and a Lo Nuestro Award, along with honors such as female revelation of the year and recognition from Mexico, the U.S. and beyond.
Mya and Laura León are extremely talented performers… They are the first of many amazing artists that we will be announcing in the weeks ahead that will make this celebration our biggest event to date. We hope many of you will join us this summer.

Four Days at Marina Green
The celebration opens with Teen Pride on Aug. 4, 2023, followed by the Pride Festival on Aug. 5 and 6 and the Pride Parade on Aug. 6, all at Marina Green in Long Beach. As in years past, there will be live music from top artists on our music and dance stages, along with local artists and special community programming. For our 40th, we are also creating new activations and attractions that bring guests and sponsors together in a space that entertains, educates and inspires.
Long Beach Pride was founded in 1983 by a small group of community activists who wanted to bring the LGBTQ+ community together and honor its contribution to the area’s growth and unique cultural identity. Our mission is to produce and support activities that educate, encourage and celebrate LGBTQ+ pride and inclusion. Four decades later, the celebration draws A-list celebrities, Grammy-winning artists and more than 80,000 visitors each year.
More artists are on the way. We can’t wait to celebrate 40 years with you this August.
