Remember the Past, Create the Future
The 2018 theme, “Remember the Past, Create the Future,” fits a milestone year. Long Beach Pride was founded by longtime community members Bob Crow, Marilyn Barlow and Judith Doyle, who established the event in 1983 to empower and support the local gay and LGBTQ+ community. Each year more than 80,000 people now attend.
The 35th year includes the acclaimed Long Beach Pride Parade on the morning of May 20, along with games, raffles, food booths, art exhibits, children’s activities and special presentations from organizers and community leaders. Festival gates are open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. both days.
All of it happens thanks to more than 40 volunteers and scores of supporters throughout the community. Today the festival is the largest two-day event in Long Beach after the Long Beach Grand Prix.
Tickets for 2018 were $20 for general admission online and $25 at the gate, available at longbeachpride.com. See you on the shoreline Sunday night.
